Lucha-Masks.com
Promotional Videos
Lucia-Masks.com reached out to me to create a series of promos to promote their new line of Lucha Libre themed PPE masks. The masks were still in production at the time and so I was unable to shoot anything with the actual products. However I was able to get photos of the masks from the manufacturer and then use those as a reference to create 3D versions in Blender.
Edited in Final Cut Pro X with 3D renders done in Blender. UVs created in Affinity Photo.
“Olapay” Product Video
I shot and edited this product video showcasing the Olapay software on TeamSable POS terminals. The project went through multiple revisions as certain features where not finalized, or in some cases, dropped entirely while in production of the video. In some shots the Screen images had to be replaced in post-production due to the viewing angle of the LCD screens creating issues during filming.
Edited in Final Cut Pro X with some motion tracking shots done in Adobe After Effects.
Video Transfers AD
A1 Photo & Video Lab
Shot and edited this simple 30 second ad for the A1 Photo & Video Lab in Berkeley, Ca for them to use in their online marketing. Rather than showcase every service they offer, the Manager and I decided it would be better to highlight one specific area that they specialize in, in this case Video transfers. The video was shot on location at their facility and edited in FCPX.
Pro Wrestling Revolution Action Figure Commercial
Shot and edited this commercial for the first wave of action figures from Pro Wrestling Revolution.
I created a replica of the PWR entrance way out of an old WCW Nitro arena playset and some poster board. The figures have no articulation and so I had to find ways to convey action using static figurines. I used Fog, Fishing line, Moving lights, and a slider to add as much energy as possible to the piece. On the set that was built, one of the featured wrestlers was no longer with the organization, and it was requested that they be replaced. Rather than build a new set and refilm the spot, I motion tracked the shots where it was visible and composited in a new image
Shot on a Sony a6400 and edited in Final Cut Pro X with some motion tracking and compositing done in HitFilm Express.
“Big Boy Wraps”
Social Media Promotional Video
I shot and edited this simple promo video for Big Bow Wraps in Oakley, CA to showcase their facilities and quality of work. It was a spontaneous shoot so the entire thing was filmed with a Google Pixel 3 and a DJI smartphone gimbal. The Ferrari wasn't finished by the end of the day so the client went back and shot footage of it completed later on for me to edit into the final video. The ad became one of their featured marketing materials across social media.
Shot on a Google Pixel 3 with a DJI Osmo Mobile 2 and Edited in Final Cut Pro X.
Pro Wrestling Revolution Event recap for Social Media
PWR would have me do recap videos for some of their event to be featured on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
The videos are shot run and gun style from the audience perspective and are designed to promote the atmosphere of the events and encourage people to come out and experience them for themselves.
Shot on a Sony a6400 and edited in Final Cut Pro X.
“Action Figure Addiction” Instagram Branding Video
Created this branding video for the Instagram page Action_Figure_Addiction. It is essentially a micro documentary about the page designed to increase brand awareness and attract new followers while also showing a behind the scenes look at the toy photography the page is known for.
Shot with a Canon 60D and a DJI Ronin S and Edited in Final Cut Pro X.
"Holokai: Origin" Book Release Promo Video
I shot interviews with the writer of the book as well as the actor who the character was based on and then edited together a series of promo videos of varying lengths to promote the release of the book "Holokai:Origins" available on amazon.com
https://www.amazon.com/Holokai-Traveler-Spirit-Realm-Origin/dp/0692071229
Shot on a Canon 60D & a Canon Vixia G20 and Edited in Adobe Premiere CC.
Pro Wrestling Revolution Training Academy Commercial
Shot and edited this commercial for the PWR Training Academy in San Jose, CA.
I spent a few hours at the school filming their beginner and semi-pro classes as well as interviewing some students in between. Music was licensed through Artlist and the commercial has been their main marketing tool for their school ever since.
Shot on a Sony AX100 and edited in Final Cut Pro X.
Go To Work Fitness | “You Know Who We Are” AD
This AD was created to help promote Go To Work Fitness; a YouTube Web Series and local Fitness organization. It showcases the diversity of content that separates GTW from other Fitness outlets and establishes its brand identity.
Shot on a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera and edited in Adobe Premiere CC.
BLACKSUITS | Sc-Fi Web Series
A mini-series following a handful of top secret government agents who police and monitor extraterrestrial and paranormal activity on planet earth. This project was shot over the course of several years in between other projects. It was a passion project built around our affinity with sci-fi.
Shot on a Canon 60D, Canon Vixia G20, and a Sony AX100. Edited in Adobe Premiere with VFX done in Adobe After Effects.
"Sticks and Stones" After School program Promotional Video.
Shot and edited this promo video for the "Sticks and Stones" after school program. I interviewed the creator of the program and a local teacher that was using the program. For the interview with the teacher there was difficulty with the acoustics in her classroom that I was unable to minimize so I had to resort to using ERA plugins to correct the reverb and echo as much as possible. The video would go on to be the main promotional tool for the program.
Shot on a Sony AX100 & a Canon 60D and edited in Final Cut Pro X.
Music Videos
"Devil's Due" - Joaquin Xavier | OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO
I conceptualized and storyboarded the video before production began and created an animatic of what the end result would be to get everyone on board and streamline production. The video would serve not only to promote Joaquin Xaviers singe, but also act as an episode of the popular web series Frosted Mini Fears.
I shot the video over two days on a Sony a6400 and edited it in FCPX. Storyboards where done in Storyboarder.
Amadi Grey's "Tricks" Music Video BTS
I shot and edited this behind the scenes video of Amadi Grey's "Tricks" Music video which was used to promote the release of the track. Some footage from this ended up in the finished video. Shot on a Sony a6400 and edited in FCPX.
After delivering the video, the client had a falling out with members of the main production team and re-edited the video to remove them before releasing it. This is the original version I completed.
Documentaries
“You Can’t stop a Revolution”
I shot and edited this documentary in early 2021 which tells the story of how the Pro Wrestling Revolution Training academy was affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. I interviewed the students of the academy and the wrestlers of the promotion about how the pandemic changed their lives and how PWR adapted to the lockdown and found new ways of training their students.
The film was used to promote the full reopening of the academy in May of 2021. It was released on the Training Academy’s Facebook page and garnered massive praise and engagement from those following the page.
Shot on a Sony a6400 & Sony AX100 and edited in Davinci Resolve.
“The Natural One: The story of Michael Modest”
This film was a collaboration with the Indy Handshake wrestling podcast and is a career retrospective on independent wrestling legend Michael Modest. Modest is most well known for his appearance in the film Beyond the Mat as well as his work in All Pro Wrestling, Pro Wrestling Iron, Pro Wrestling Noah, and World Championship Wrestling. The film would be a massive success for the podcast, becoming their most acclaimed piece to date and receiving critical acclaim from many involved in the pro wrestling industry. The film was also featured in the June 2021 issue of Pro Wrestling Illustrated where it was reviewed by Mike Bessler who rated it 5/5 suplexes.
The film was shot by me on a Sony a6400 and Sony AX100 with Jesus Cruz of Indy Handshake handling the editing in Adobe Premiere.
Short Films
"Snipe//Hunt" Horror Short Film
I wrote, Produced, Shot, Directed, and Edited this short film for the horror web series 'Frosted Mini Fears' the film went on to have an advanced screening at the Bridge Storage and Art Space in Pt. Richmond, CA.
Turnaround time was pretty short on this one. I had a little over a month to finish the script, cast it, procure props and costumes, shoot it, and edit it. I didn't have the budget for a sound guy so I had the two leads wear wireless LAVs under their shirts so I could get their dialogue, then once I had the edit locked I went back and recorded Foley on location to finish out the sound mix.
"Tolerance" Horror Short Film
I wrote, Shot, Directed, and Edited this short film for the horror web series "Frosted Mini Fears." This film came about very quickly, we had to drop our original idea due to scheduling conflicts and so I came up with this last minute as a substitute. Turnaround time from conception to completion was about two weeks, with the title of the film not even being decided upon until post-production.
The film went on to win the Audience Choice award at the 9th annual Berkeley Community Media Horror Film Festival.
LIVE|EVIL
(Urban Exploration VLOG)
This short film was done as a found footage/VLOG style video. The story was crafted by myself, Joaquin Lascano, and Chad Garcia for the web series Frosted Mini Fears. It was filmed in Pt. Richmond, Ca as well as the ghost town of Drawbridge, Ca. There was no script for this film, just an outline of the major story beats we wanted to hit. As such most of this film was improvised while filming.
Shot on a Sony a6400 and edited in Final Cut Pro X.
“Never Conquered, Rarely Came” Horror Short Film
Inspired by a true story, this short film covers the topic of suicide as one man struggling with depression is pressured into taking his own live by his girlfriend. This film was used as apart of the web series Frosted Mini Fears and was also accepted into the 2018 “I Hella Love Shorts” Film Festival.
Shot on a Blackmagic Pocket CInema Camera and Edited in Adobe Premiere.
"One Bad Day" Horror Short Film
Shot and Edited this Horror Short Film for the YouTube Channel "Frosted Mini Fears." It was shot over 2 days in Rodeo, CA and received much acclaim and controversy upon its release.
The film went on to be an official selection in the 'I Hella Love Shorts" film festival.
One horror film festival outright rejected the film due to it’s sensitive subject matter. As a result at every public screening of the film I always address the audience afterwards “You guys get that’s a sad ending, right? Yeah, you’re not supposed to be glad he did that.”
“Signal Unknown” Horror Short
This short film was written by Salvatore Guerisoli. It features the talents of voice actors Adam Harrington and Efren Aguilera. It was one of two pilots created for the web series “Frosted Mini Fears.” The film is comprised of one unbroken shot and along with the other pilot created for the show, would ultimately set the tone for webseries and help establish its style.
